In some cases, the involvement of third-party rights holders may be indicated directly or indirectly through source citations or other statements. However, other content may not explicitly specify which portions are owned by third parties. Users are responsible for verifying such matters before using the content.

Even if content is owned by a third party, it may be used without the permission of the rights holder in certain circumstances, such as under “fair use” or other exceptions permitted by copyright law.
