Microbial Informatic Project

Research
The Microbial Informatics Project is a research initiative that aims to elucidate the mechanisms underlying bacterial pathogenesis and to drive the development of effective strategies for prevention and treatment at a time when infections caused by antimicrobial-resistant bacteria represent a growing global threat. It is estimated that approximately 4.95 million people die each year from diseases associated with antimicrobial resistance worldwide, and even when new antibiotics are introduced, resistant strains often emerge rapidly. In this project, we analyze genomic information not only from pathogenic bacteria but also from the human resident microbiome, with the goal of identifying factors that contribute to health maintenance and to the progression or worsening of disease.
